  2. Hi Kirsten, My name is Rebecca (Becky McEvoy) and I am from Northern Cambria, PA. Small World!! I have been wanting to contact you since I first saw the article in the TD about your trip to Poland. I was so excited for you because I travelled to Poland in January 2008 with ACIS and some close friends. I had never even flown by plane before (and I was 37 years old at the time) and here I was heading for Poland!!! You photos from the Zakopane Mountains are beautiful and I recognized the restaurant with the animals on the wall and the Polish entertainers. While in the Mts. we also ate at that inn. We joked that the plates of food looked like something from Beowulf! I see that you also rode the funicular to the top of the mountains. When we visited, it was so cold and icy. Did you happen to stop at the Little Wooden Church on the way up the mountain? While in Poland I stayed in Krakow and also toured the Wawel—I see you wishing on the bell. My reason for visiting Poland was to have the privlege of visiting Auschwitz. I travelled with a fellow teacher I have worked with for 17 years, and her husband. Over the past few years, we have developed a rather impressive Holocaust unit and were thrilled, as well as humbled, with the opportunity to visit. While there, we took some footage of the outside barracks, buildings, campus, etc. and made a very moving video of our visit to share with our district once we returned home. I have always referred to my trip to Poland as more of a pilgrimage than anything else. I wish you the best of luck in Poland and hope you don’t eat to much bacon lard, haha! I forgot to mention to you that I am an 8th grade learning support teacher from the Cambria Heights School District in Patton. Did I read that you are from Bishop McCort?? I went to Bishop Carroll and was a 1988 graduate. My husband, Jeff, also graduated in 88′. We live in Northern Cambria with our daughter Mallory (9) and Isaac (7). I look forward to reading more of you blog and hope you enjoy Poland as much as I did. Take Care—Becky
